Environment
In recognising the importance of sustainability in all its operations, iNova has in place programs to monitor and continuously improve its practices with respect to the environment.
We are committed to reducing the impact of our operations on the environment and have a longstanding history of implementing programs that achieve this goal. A recent achievement includes a 7.8% reduction in electricity usage.
Additionally, by partnering with our waste services provider we are constantly exploring new opportunities to divert waste from landfill to the recycling and reuse of waste streams. This has led to increases in recycling of 34% and reductions in hazardous waste of 35% and waste to landfill of 5%.
iNova is a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant. This membership demonstrates iNova’s commitment to reduce the environmental impact associated with waste generated within the packaging supply chain of all iNova products. Our membership also includes formal adoption of the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines, designed to further reduce the impact of packaging on the environment. The iNova NPC Action plan can be viewed here.
Occupational Health and Safety
iNova’s ongoing focus is to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors, visitors and the general public. Specifically, to have a workplace free of incidents and injury by identifying hazards and reducing risks. We pursue this by continuously improving our health and safety programs and having a collective responsibility for safe work practices driven by all managers, supervisors and staff. Participation of employees is actively encouraged through the employee consultation process, which provides an avenue for all staff to provide input into OHS issues in the workplace.
iNova is currently experiencing it lowest recorded lost time injury (LTI) rate with a result that is well below the industry average. This excellent result has been achieved through the implementation of an intensive hazard identification and risk assessment process coupled with a focus on behavioural safety and ergonomics in the workplace.
